“When you pull on that jersey, you represent yourself and your teammates. And the name on the front is a hell of a lot more important than the one on the back”
Tomororw I start something I have always wanted to do. Coach a youth hockey team. The team I am taking over finished dead last in the standings last season and has 6 returning players. I drafted my new players on Wednesday after seeing them at tryouts on Saturday. I decided to draft a little differently! “I didnt draft the best players, but instead I drafted the best team”! I drafted the kids that I know will work their asses off when the game is on the line! The kids that will still be sprinting up and down the court no matter how much sweat is running down their faces! We open up tomorrow against the “Wings”. The two time defending champions. As I am going to tell my team, its a new season! We are not the 4 win team we were a year ago! We will come together as one, and we will win! Because even if we dont have the skills they have, we have something they dont! HEART! And you never, ever, underestimate the heart of a champion. I WILL turn these kids into winners, and they will perform. I will not yell, but I will motivate. I will not roll my eyes, but i will encourage! Because “great moments are born from great opportunities!” Tomorrow and until the end of February, the North Stars will put themselves on the map.
